The new Appeasement

The New Appeasement

It began as a glorious spiritual ideal following the senseless slaughter of the First World War. We all can and should get along. But it became a nihilistic surrender to the other side and, ultimately, surrender of thy self. Applied in foreignness affairs it was short lived – though not without consequence in the shape, form and duration of Second World War.

But now, turned inward, this impulse applied domestically has become an internalized suicidal proposition. Of course we should reject the values that sustained us. Of course we must let all in for we are guilty and they are innocent.  Of course we must reject the economic miracle of the modern era brought by free markets. Of course those who disagree with us must be destroyed. Of course all aspects of life – especially education – must be politicized. Of course traditional mores and relationships must be denigrated.

I’m sure it will all work out well  After all, just look at Venezuela.
